The Conflict Islands, an atoll of 21 islands in the Coral Sea, are held in freehold ownership. The current owner has identified that the key to maintaining the outstanding marine environment is to inhabit the islands. Architects Pacific were commissioned to come up with concept masterplanning for all of the 21 islands.
Ideas presented include dividing the larger islands into residential lots of various sizes, the provision of internal marina berths for boats and the potential to expand the existing boutique resort on the island of Panasesa to serve as the infrastructure base. The master plan also included the creation of a large marine reserve.
